All the Time

How many times have I been captivated by your emerald eyes;
How many times your smile captured in the flash bulb's brief surprise?
An aura of mystery… your fragrance and that summer breeze
Come back to me, vivid memory.

I muse to think of times I left a silly message when I phoned.
When I was on the road, you took care of our stately, city home.
How many times would I get home in the dead of night
And find you there in the easy chair.

My cells hold these memories. What was the crime?
Where's the key to set them free? They say it's time.
All I know is time goes slow all the time.

So like a child at times, your innocence is touching I recall.
You wear a furrowed brow when you try to make sense of it all.
I though my heart would break. "What if God has made a grave mistake?"
You questioned me, and I heard you weep.

My cells hold these memories. What was the crime?
Where's the key to set them free? They say it's time.
All I know is time goes slow all the time.

My friends would say I am wasting my days dreaming of your charms.
If you return I’d not hesitate to hold you in my arms.

How many endless days would I watch waves that break upon the shore
Before I’d find a way to hunger for your kisses never more?
As rock is turned to sand maybe someday I shall understand
What's meant to be is what's best for me.

My cells hold these memories. What was the crime?
Where's the key to set them free? They say it's time.
All I know is time goes slow all the time.

How many times have I been captivated by your emerald eyes?
