John Raymond Pollard: Lyrics & Listen

Overdue

(John Raymond Pollard)

Another day
and more dragons to slay
among so many things to do.

I went away
and I wanted to stay.
These heartstrings drew me back to you.

Let’s escape the ravaging winter
blanketed deep in cocoon;
sail through space and embrace in a crater
where shadows meet light on the moon.
Opening wings in the cool lunar spring,
we’ll rise on high with a tune.

I worked so long
writing so many songs.
I’ve gotta’ get a hit or two, it’s overdue…

And come that day,
all the bills will be paid
and I shall get away with you; it’s overdue.

Let us escape the ravaging winter
blanketed deep in cocoon;
sail through space and embrace in a crater
where shadows meet light on the moon.
Opening wings in the cool lunar spring,
we’ll rise on high with a tune.

Another day:
I have more bills to pay.
You see, like me they’re overdue.
I want to get away with you…
Gotta’ have a hit or two…
It’s overdue…
